Deliveries Part 1
The first order from a local timber yard arrived Friday afternoon. Instead of ringing the door bell, they sent a text message (that I didn't hear) and proceeded to unload a pile of timber and a pallet of 12 bags of concrete mix on the nature strip.
Now, if we had a regular, flat driveway, that wouldn't be so bad. But we don't. Our driveway is steep enough that I had to get the guys who poured it to do something about pitch to ensure that I could actually get my car up it - having sneakily tried the driveway of a new house around the corner with a similar slope.. and found myself scraping as I reversed out.
Now, I mentioned in my last post that I'm not entirely healthy either. I've got a bit of a cough. A regular old productive cough thanks to a cold brought home by one of the harmonics. The tests are at least negative, so we'll go with it being a cold.
I discovered in my health compromised state, having moved 6 bags of concrete mix on to my trolley that both tyres were flat. Of course, actually trying to move that nearly killed me. Pumped up tyres and climbing the driveway was still a challenge. That I then had to repeat before I started on the timber
Storing 3.6m lengths of timber in my garage proved quickly how much space I don't really have in there, and it dawned on me that'd be made worse once the yellow tongue floor sheets arrive.
I had hoped that the big green shed would have done a Saturday delivery of the other stuff I'm waiting on as they'd suggested that they might, but that didn't eventuate.
I did take the opportunity though when I started feeling marginally better to go out and re-mark the first garden bed, but the grass down with the whipper snipper, then poisoned it. We have no plans on actually planting into the ground. Everything will be potted, so no problem.
I can feel another big green shed order coming up soon. The XYL has determined that she wants to use bark around the concrete pavers in the garden bed (the pots will sit on the pavers), and I'm lucky if I can fit more than half a dozen bags in the car. When I do the bark, I also want to put in a line of poly tube with sprinkler heads that will eventually get connected up together in a loop running around the fence line.
Slow progress is progress I guess.
I do find myself skipping ahead to the shed planning a lot; how to lay out the benches and shelving. Lighting. Where is best to jam the earth stake? Best mechanism and location for mounting the vertical behind it that I can still actually get to? Does the PC I use for the G90 run on 12v? Can I find a 1080p screen I can run on 12v? When can I fund a new radio that either goes in the shed, or in my study so I can pull the G90 out? Where and how could I rig up a diesel heater in there? Can I change the padlock mechanism for something with a handle? How will I allow the cabling for the external lights through? How am I going to setup something to hold the distribution panel and potentially multiple batteries?
There's a lot of noise going on around that, and it's still at least a month before we will get started on it.
