QRM Eliminator Quick Test
A couple of days ago, the slow boat from China arrived and brought with it my QRM Eliminator.
I don't yet have the Miniwhip antenna I plan on using, but it came with its own little telescopic antenna and an adapter, so I set that up.
Much like a lot of people say - it's a bit fiddly, but without revising any of the how to videos I was able to fairly quickly take the edge out whilst listening to a QSO.
I can't TX with it yet - I don't have the PTT control setup. Eventually the bits will arrive for that and I'll get it sorted.
I really haven't had much time to play with it beyond this quick test then putting it somewhere permanent.
I ran a second test, filming whilst it was on to tune it in advance, then making fine adjustments to show how fine the tuning is, before turning it off completely to show what I would be hearing without it:
Until I'm familiar with it, I think the magic will be in finding active QSOs, switching it on, then practice fiddling with it.
When the MiniWhip gets here, it'll be interesting to see if better results are achieved inside or outside of the shack.
I'm putting the new power supply in the shack, so I won't have the power being fed from the garage, sitting above a rack full of enterprise grade IT equipment that may well be the source of half of my woe. I've also got another order in for more ferrites. The big ones will be going on the radio cabling, and some smaller ones will be destined for the DC side of the computer power supplies.
