The struggle of time...
I last posted 10 days ago, and I've been fairly busy in that time.
Up until that point, I'd only really finished a week+ long endevour to fix a problem that spanned two vendors but could have been identified in a matter of minutes if the primary vendor better developed the interface of their product.
In the past week, I spent a day with them mostly evaluating a new product - a product that I'm keen to implement in place of the existing product that has too many frustrating side effects. Their tech guys were keen on a sit down during lunch to discuss the problems I'd gone through that past week or so and were keen on my feedback for how it was handled and how I thought that they could improve the product to avoid that frustration.
I should point out that this vendor is one of the 3 largest server vendors (and the second largest PC vendor) and the fact that they sent the caliber of people they did to have these conversations with us given our size is a testament to the fact that they were actually interested. They also brought tech guys from their distributor - the largest in the world - one of whom previously worked for that vendor with the troublesome product when it started. That lead to some frank and interesting discussion.
The new product is likely something that will be a late next year change assuming we get it approved. That will generate a lot of work for me starting with months of reachitecting the environment around it. Fun stuff, but a lot of work at some point.
I really haven't had time for much else around work this past couple of weeks; that and watching some TV while I attempt to turn off the noise in my head.
I've made a couple of attempts at cleaning up signals with the new Xiegu GNR1, but I really haven't put much effort in to it. My logbook seems to end on the 31st July which I guess says a lot considering I do like to get a bit of FT8 in.
I don't anticipate any change to that today either; one of the kids has a birthday party on today with both sets of grand parents coming to town for the occasion, so that will relieve me of the day. My wife woke me at 2am and I've had 2 hours sleep since, so I doubt I'll be up late tonight.
I haven't even had time to involve myself in the training course that I really need to be a lot further through than I am.
