50Khz-2GHz Malahit DSP Malachite SDR Receiver Part 4
I gave up on this thing a while ago. It's sat there on, not behaving well and being 10kHz out of whack.
Today I took it out to fiddle with while playing with the screw driver outside.
Upon my return I read the manual again whilst trying to listen in on 40m.
I discovered the method for resetting the device. Low and behold, all of a sudden it appeared reasonably on frequency.
Unfortunately band conditions are dreadful just at the second and it's hard to get a nice signal to tweak against. Closest I found was on 20m - and that chap was sounding a bit like Donald Duck on my IC706. Still. It boomed in on the Malachite via the vertical. On the same frequency.
Good start.
Now I have the case issue. I think the contact of the case against the screen causes some unwanted behaviours. Next on my list of things to address. I may need to look at alternative cases. If that doesn't work, I'll try to modify the existing design.. that I don't really like a bit more.
Potentially this thing has a future again that doesn't involve being thrown in a drawer.
UPDATE:
The next morning and it's still working reasonably well. It really could do with a bigger and better speaker. The one in it fits well, but it simply lacks clarity. Something to look into I think.
