Peck Peck Peck

5:30am, and I'm hearing that bloody wood pecker again. It's not as bad as it was, but it keeps washing through.

The waterfall looks a bit different this morning.

Randomly seeing black lines through it. The waterfall on the G90 shows a pulse running through it. I'm hearing it out to about 7.160MHz this morning. It's quite audible on the IC706 as well.

Just to double/triple/quadruple check, I've moved back to the battery to ensure it's not the new power supply. There's definitely something nearby doing it.

Assuming it's not local, not a lot I can do about it I guess, except persevere. The best I can do is keep chasing the internal sources of noise and nail them down. Follow my own life advice: Only worry about the things you can control.

I'm still getting decodes at least.

Interestingly:

I'm not usually heard anywhere this time of day on 40m, except around VK3 (and VK3 is rare on that vertical). It's a nice change, but I'm not sure I like the compromise that's come with it!

I don't know how much radio time there will be today. I've got a new gas smoker, chicken wings and pork rashers in the fridge that need preparation for lunch. A week of Lite N' Easy meals, skipped lunches, declining the kids trying to feed me chips and generally being well behaved.. so I'm looking forward to something I'll enjoy.
