I don't know...

I don't know what this garbage is....

but it keeps blasting through every couple of minutes. This is from the G90 using the vertical. I'm hearing it on the IC706 as well @ 7.093MHz, which is rather annoying. I'm trying to SWL on a net full of VK4s and 6s, and I have enough trouble with my currently S7 noise floor without that garbage blowing through.

I've never seen that on 40m before - at least not with the battery charger off and running on battery. That garbage can return to the hell it came from thanks.

That was a distraction from earlier investigations into how I could get the audio out of the IC706 into a computer via its own audio interface using the data packet operation port rather than the ACC port (which I need to use for the QRM eliminator). The only options I can see are a SignaLink or home brew. One is a little rich for my current budget and the other is out of my skill set.

That lead me to external speaker options. I have an unused set of studio monitors floating around. I'm tempted to try one hooked up to see what it's like. They're not exactly space friendly. If that worked, I'd need a small mixer and would run both radios into it, then I'd be able to equalize it a bit and knock some of the high end out. My tinnitus might even thank me for that. Sadly I used to have an appropriately sized little mixer but I passed it on due to lack of use; mostly as I have a mixing desk that many a small band would love to get their hands on (that gets about as much use as that former "little" mixer).
